Hello and happy Monday fabuless fashionistas. We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and are now ready to start a fabulous new week.
Today we are going to talk a little bit about aging. Are you one to age gracefully, embracing all the signs of your years of living and loving life? Perhaps you are more likely to fight aging tooth, (teeth whiteners, anyone?) and nail , (weekly mani/pedis?). Which ever your preference, inevitably we all age, and sometimes we may fall into the pit of despair wondering where our youth has gone.
But guess what? Aging isn’t such a bad thing. If fact we have compiled a list of things that get even BETTER with age! See if you agree.
10. Cast iron skillets.
Time helps season the skillet making everything you make in them even tastier!
9. Blue Jeans.
Aww, the wonderful feel of putting on a favorite pair of jeans that have been broken in and feel just right from multiple wears. Bonus, if your favorite pair have become really worn and “loved”, and have developed some rips or tears, you are currently on trend!
Especially red wine. The tannins, sugar and acidity combine over the years to make a richer, more bold flavor.
Pajamas, shirts, sheets all get softer and more supple with each wash until they become the perfect texture.
Did you know that to be considered Whiskey, the alcohol must be aged at least 3 years. Whiskies that are over a decade can have an unbelievably rich flavor.
Especially Cheddar, Gouda, Parmigiano. Aging allows for the formation of calcium lactate crystals which translates to hearty and complex flavors.
There is something wonderful about having friends in your life and having life long friends is the absolute best. Old friends know everything there is to know about you, good and bad! No matter what your age, it is never too late to make a new friend. Loving friendships nourish and enrich our lives as we grow older.
Whether it be boots, a purse, coat, or even a sofa, fine leather becomes softer, smoother and more supple with each passing year.
2. Decision making.
Faced with tough choices older adults are better at weighing in the long term pros and cons of a situation as our years of wisdom and experience help guide us.
That’s right the most amazing, fabulous, glorious thing about aging is that we are still here! We are cooking in our iron skillets, we are rocking our jeans and flannel shirts. We are sitting on a leather sofa eating cheese and enjoying a wine or whiskey while we are hanging out with our friends and helping each other make decisions about the next adventure in this thing we call life. So the next time you feel a little bit down about growing older, just remember the old adage…Don’t regret growing older, it is a privilege denied to many.
Till next time be thrifty and stay fabuless!
